My little Firecracker`

Poor Nolan had quite the 4th of July weekend.  It started at the beginning of the week, he was just not happy taking his bottle.  He would bat it away and then get so mad that he was not eating.  On Tuesday, I picking him up from the sitter's and she said he had had a rough day.  I told her, he had had a rough night the night before.  J had failed to tell her that when he dropped Noles off.  All he had told her was that he was very gasey.  Barb, the sitter, informed me Nolan was constipated and finally was able to poop.  He let out a painful ear piercing scream and it was knotted and the size of her fist.  He was a much happier baby once he was able to go.  On her advice, I mixed his bottles that evening with half apple juice.  The next day, Barb, said we could lay off the apple juice since he had such diarrhea.  He leaked through his diaper and all over her.

When I went to pick him up on Thursday, we were back to being constipated.  He was batting his bottles away and had not really eaten anything for Barb all day. Even straight apple juice he was not taking.  I called the Dr's and was told to administer a glycerin suppository to help clean him out. Poor baby.  I was supposed and hold his butt checks together for 5 to 10 minutes for it to dissolve.  Luckily, Walgreens has a children's liquid version that you just shoot up them by squeezing.  Jay helped hold him on his side and I inserted and squeezed, got the diaper on him and told him he was on the clock to poop.  The box side, if there was not a bowel movement in 1 hour to call your doctor.  I swear not 2 minutes after diapering him, the loudest toots were coming from this little guy.  And oh the smell....it was awful.  I am not one to leave him in a dirty diaper, so I start changing it and he continues to go as I change him. We went through 5 diapers in 1 hour.  He had to have felt so much better.  His stomach was no longer hard either. We just had some poop fireworks in our house on the 3rd of July!

We now are continuing to add 1 ounce of apple juice to each of his bottles so he continues to poop each day.  We started oatmeal cereal (can not do rice because it will bind him up) and he has not quite figured out the spoon/swallow concept.  I would spoon him some cereal and then give him his bottle to help get some down. He wore most on his face and bib since it just all came back out of his mouth.  We will keep trying and then will start some vegetables to keep him "regular."

Noles and I met up with Carrie and Tommy at Creve Coeur Lake to walk the morning of the 4th. It was a beautiful day and not too hot. We logged almost 6 miles and then I had to get ready to work at Ann Taylor.  I for sure thought we would be dead because it was gorgeous outside, but I was so wrong.  I think it was international day at the mall, which made my shift go by pretty fast.  After work I met up with the rest of the family at J's mom's house for steak and fireworks.  In their new house, you can see the City of O'Fallon's fireworks from their driveway which was nice because Nolan fell asleep so I could keep going inside and checking on him.

He is so animated these days.  He talks up a storm, especially in the mornings.  He has found his voice and is super loud!  He reaches for things and then they immediately go into his mouth.  He puts a death grip on my hair which seriously hurts.  His smiles melt my heart.
