The Eternal Rinse

Nolan Patrick was baptized on June 1, 2014 at the 9:30am service at Salem in Ladue United Methodist Church.  It was such a nice service and was lead by our friend, Pastor Adam Caldwell.  All of our family and church friends were in attendance.   Nolan wore a christening gown that was first worn by J's brother, Doug.  I had tried on the little outfit that J wore for his, but it was too little. J was baptized at one month as opposed to Nolan who is over 3 months.  Oh my gosh, he looked so precious.  He really would make a beautiful girl. After I got him dressed, I was getting myself dressed when J danced into the room with Nolan, proclaiming they were having their father/daughter dance.  Poor Noles, I promise I won't put you in a dress again (well, hope I don't :) )

My parents and sister had flown in for this very special occasion, and J's parents and sister's family were there. As well as, J's aunt and uncle (who is his godfather) came to show Nolan some support.  The opening song the band played was "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors. This is a song that is on main stream radio but I thought to myself that it was very fitting for this occasion.  The band played very good music and then we were up.  J, Peyton, Nolan, and I were in the front of the congregation. We did our part and answered all of Shelia's questions.  Nolan only fussed a bit and I had to put the pacifier in his mouth for a few moments.  I then handed him to Adam who told everyone that this little dude had been through a lot in his short life with surgery and various tests, but is all perfect now.  He then baptized my little man and myl ittle man did not let out so much as a peep.  As Adam lead the congregation in Jesus Loves Me he walked to both ends holding Nolan to show off their new member.  Nolan stared so intently at Adam.  It was so precious.  Grand C had told Nolan the night before in the bath that she does the nightly shampoo but tomorrow he would receive the eternal rinse.

After church we took the noted family photos.  It was hard because it was so dark in the gym but so bright outside.  We rushed home to get all the food out for the party.  We had our families and our church family over for lunch.  We had a nice spread of ham and cold pork tenderloin for little sandwiches.  Hot dogs for the kids and big kids if they liked.  A veggie tray with dill dip, fresh fruit, chips and an artichoke parmesan dip, mexican tortilla roll ups, corn dip, gooey butter cake, and my grandmother's chocolate cake.

It was such a lovely day and I am so blessed to have such an amazing support network of friends at church.  Those who came were:
Jon, Merri, Penelope, and Campbell Cross
Billy, Linnie, Savannah, and Harper Dean
Carrie Mosley
Adam Caldwell
Sarah, Samantha, and Sydney Sperry
Tim, Jessi, Max, Dash, and Jack Power
Patty Waterhouse
Grand C and Grand P
Aunt Allison
MawMaw and PawPaw
Uncle Andy, Aunt Ellen, Luke, Alex and Parker
